Discover the Vendée Arctique Les Sables d’Olonne on Virtual Regatta Offshore!

The Vendée Arctique les Sables d’Olonne lands on Virtual Regatta Offshore!

First qualification race for the Vendée Globe 2024. It will allow you to compete with the real skippers in real time, to see who will finish at the top of this innovative 3500 mile course.

The proposed course will be marked by 3 markers to be validated. The first marker is at the southern tip of Ireland, which you will leave to starboard. Then you will head towards Iceland, which you will round and leave to port, and finally dive south towards the Gallimard buoy, which you will also have to leave to port.

These 3 approved buoys, a single objective, to reach Les Sables d’Olonne by doing better than Antoine17-CAF winner in 2020 with a time of 10d 11h 58m 10s.

This long and demanding course will put the real and virtual skippers to the test and set the tone for the Route du Rhum at the end of the year!

The second stage of the IMOCA Virtual Series by CORUM L’Épargne!

As you know, in parallel to the IMOCA GLOBE SERIES, Virtual Regatta offers the IMOCA Virtual Series by CORUM l’Épargne, the first virtual championship of its kind. The second race of this championship, the Vendée Arctique les Sables d’Olonne, will therefore allow the most efficient skippers to shake up the rankings and take the lead.

Like any real skipper, each virtual skipper will accumulate points throughout the season to win the annual title and the chance to sail with Nicolas Troussel on his IMOCA CORUM L’Épargne.

How does it work?

In each event, every skipper scores a number of points according to his or her ranking, the number of participants and a coefficient specific to each event.

For example: if 10 boats start a race with a coefficient of 4, the first boat scores 10 x 4 = 40 points, the second boat scores 9 x 4 = 36 points, etc.

The skipper or skippers who have scored the most points over the season win the title.

Skipper’s energy close to reality!

A new feature just implemented in the game, the skipper’s energy will allow players to get even closer to the real conditions experienced by skippers!

Indeed, for each race you will start with an energy gauge of 100 points. During the race, each action you perform with your boat will lower this gauge. Depending on how tired you are, you will manoeuvre more or less quickly. So be careful to avoid unnecessary manoeuvres to prevent you from running out of energy!

To talk about this new feature, what better way than to ask a player who has already tested it:

“I had the chance to test the skipper’s energy and I loved it. It adds fun, realism and above all strategy! I can save time on a manoeuvre because I’m less tired than my direct opponent and therefore gain a few minutes.

Good energy management can allow you to do a manoeuvre twice or even 4 times faster than your direct competitors.

You should also think carefully before taking a route with strong weather because it means much more time to recover and the slalom in the islands may become complicated” Gurcus Tollwyne
