The Stopover E-Cup: A New Addition to The Ocean Race

The Stopover E-Cup is a competition organized by The Ocean Race. The first challenge started on January 8th. There will be a total of 8 challenges with the IMOCA boat each happening between each leg of The Ocean Race counting x2 for the eSWC ranking starting from January 21st.

The winner of each challenge will be invited to a live final in July with the top 3 of each challenge earning prizes courtesy of The Ocean Race. The winner of that live final will qualify for the eSailing World Championship semi-final.

The Ocean Race, the premier round-the-world sailing competition, has announced the addition of a new event to its lineup – The Stopover E-Cup. This innovative competition will bring the excitement of sailing to the digital world, and is set to become a staple of The Ocean Race for years to come.

Six Exciting IMOCA Challenges Await

The Stopover E-Cup consist of eight IMOCA challenges, taking place during the stopovers of The Ocean Race in between legs. First two leg have happened in Alicante and Cabo Verde. Sailors and fans alike are able to participate in these virtual challenges, which is happening on Virtual Regatta Inshore.

Qualify for the eSailing World Championship

The winners of each IMOCA challenge will qualify for a live final, which will be broadcast in the Ocean Live Park in Genova and on social networks at the beginning of July. This final will be the highlight of The Stopover E-Cup, and the winner will qualify for the semi-final of the eSailing World Championship.

In addition to the prestige of qualifying for the eSailing World Championship, the top 3 sailors of each Stopover E-Cup will receive gifts from The Ocean Race, further adding to the excitement of this new competition.
