35 knots of wind!

Par Many Players - December 12 2012

35 knots of wind! These are the conditions that currently face the Virtual Regatta skippers in the stream of cold air between the Ice gates of Amsterdam East and West Australia.

The fleet is now stretched over more than half of the Indian Ocean, with the familiar trio of meteo79niort.com, OG287 and stakk GG in the lead, chased by a compact group led by Meindray RKN, cofreno, and an increasingly menacing TPN trio  ptitclairTEV, cokdenoa and Reves de gosse.

The strong wind conditions seem likely to continue in the coming days giving a big advantage to those carried along with the wind.

For those who has missed the ride, the hope of a return to the front seems compromised. This is the case of some "big outsiders" such as Aldabra, Istishia, Kero-Zenne PK, Neshi TPN and Celemans RKN trapped in the calm wind behind this front. They will probably have to wait until Southern Tasmania and hope that new tactical options become available to them.
