It's all over now...

Par Virtual Regatta - March 11 2017

124 days ago we all took the Vendée Globe's start.

After having sailed thousands of miles around the world,

we're now at the end of this e-venture which gathered 460 000 virtual sailors. Next Sunday at midnight, Virtual Regatta will shut down the oceans' door and thus put an end to the 2016-2017 Virtual Vendée Globe edition. The end of this circumnavigation happens when Sébastien Destremau, Face Ocean's skipper and last Vendée Globe competitor still at sea, will finish in the hours to come.

That means that you have less than 3 days to cross the finish line in Les Sables d'Olonne. Or, like many sailors have done, you can continue your route toward any different horizons. At the present moment, 233,000 of us have buckled up the planetary loop.

The end of the race also means that the time has come to mark the points for the Top VSR (Virtual Sailing Ranking). This rank 1 (it's the highest possible rank) competition will bring a million points to Mangina-PYR, winner of the Virtual Vendée Globe. For the others, one will have to wait to have the total number of ranked players in order to know the points attribution and the subsequent new VSR ranking.

But the virtual races and regattas do not limit themselves to the Virtual Vendée Globe. Virtual Regatta offers lots of opportunities to take part to races in many places around the world, all over the year.

At this very moment, you can head to the Pacific Ocean for a race between Clipperton Island and Noumea; then will come "Off Saint Tropez", on March 18th, the San Fernando Race (April 12th) and many other races. There will always be a race on the planetary chessboard to quench your thirst for the blue water.

Thanks to all for having taken part in the world's largest online nautical event. See you in 2020 for the next Virtual Vendée Globe edition. Fair (virtual or real) winds to you.
